The project brief was to carry out a pre-demolition survey of a large industrial complex prior to redevelopment. Project risks included working at height, water ingress, asbestos debris and pigeon guano, among others.
Project Challenges – Hillington asbestos survey
ABS carried out the full survey over multiple stages due to varying tenant lease expiry dates. This staged approach allowed our client to get a better understanding of what asbestos was likely be present within occupied areas in advance of the survey being carried out and allowed better future planning.
Our sister company, Damada Group, were also able to provide budget costs for Asbestos Removal and Demolition. This allowed our client to use these details for project costing and tender formation.
All our survey team are P402 qualified with at least 5 years surveying experience and hold IPAF certification therefore were able to use a cherry picker on this project. All asbestos samples were analysed quickly and accurately by our in-house UKAS accredited laboratory.
Challenges on this site included the condition of the floor within the warehouse being covered in greenery, we had to clear, and detailed within our survey report that additional debris could be uncovered.
