PROJECT RISKS
The first visit involved the external elevations only via the scaffolding that was already in place. Following this initial visit the state of disrepair of the internal areas became apparent. The building had been vacant for 10+ years so was likely to contain vermin, dampness and fungal growth issues.
During the second survey involving the full strip out removal of all non structural elements the ABS team worked in conjunction with Damada Group to open up all areas where safe to do so. Working in conjunction with Damada was crucial with additional experience and qualifications of asbestos removal and demolition works.
PROJECT PLANNING
Due to the unsafe nature of the building, a pre start meeting was carried out to understand the complexity of the project, there was a high likelihood of asbestos throughout the building, our survey team had to be extremely thorough in their survey method.
Due to multiple visits and our partnership with Damada we were able to advise in detail how the client should progress with their project giving them confidence going forward. ABS and Damada remained in contact with the client offering advise and guidance when required.
OUTCOME /FEEDBACK
ABS work regularly with this client, having forged a strong friendship based on delivery of excellent customer and technical service over a number of years. This project was no exception and we received excellent feedback following our final visit to site.
