project Overview
A site visit was carried out prior to quotation, in order to provide the client with an accurate costs/issues, and to allow an extra opportunity to visit such a beautiful estate. During pre-survey visit, our estimator was able to identify all listed areas to ensure these were highlighted to the survey team if we were successful in our proposal.
Following appointment to the project, this additional visit proved invaluable. A pre-start meeting was carried out between survey team and estimator to ensure we fully understand the complexity of the work. Given the age and documented history of the site, there was a high likelihood of asbestos within the building.
Survey strategy – Listed Buildings
Unlike refurbishment/pre-demolition surveys, a management survey is non-intrusive and can be carried out in either an unoccupied or occupied building. Due to the age, listed status and history we were very mindful not to sample anything other than suspect materials. In this instance, our experienced survey team will sample all suspect materials, and highlight any areas with the potential to contain asbestos – in line with HSG 264. However no damage will be made to listed areas without proper authorisation.
ABS have developed a strong reputation for complex/listed properties over our 20+ year trading history and believe that our client’s know they can trust us to ensure no damage is caused.
