Asbestos Common Misconceptions

Just ask ABS if you are in any doubt how to ensure safety and HSE compliance

Thought to be only used in the post-war building boom in non-domestic properties and that it has all long since been removed. That couldn’t be further from the truth! Asbestos was used in over 3,000 products ranging from floor screeds and tiles, to wall/door/ceiling panels, toilet cisterns, and electric appliances

Asbestos was also used throughout historical construction from fire protection to structural steel work, hidden within column and beam cladding, much of which is still present. Furthermore, inspect under the floorboards, or within risers and lofts of the sandstone mansions throughout any city and you will find lots of examples of pipe and boiler insulation with asbestos containing materials (ACMs).
